The Story Behind the Project
After my cat Eclipse went missing for two months, I relied on local shelters, volunteers, and community resources to help bring him home. Along the way, I realized that much of the information pet owners need is often difficult to find and spread across multiple sources.
After Eclipse returned, I volunteered my design services to APS of Durham, creating educational resources, volunteer recruitment materials, and a volunteer identity system to support community outreach and animal welfare initiatives.
Building a Stronger Volunteer Community
To support APS's ongoing volunteer recruitment efforts, I developed a dedicated volunteer identity and recruitment materials designed to communicate opportunities, responsibilities, and impact in a clear and approachable way.
Reflection
What began as a search for my own cat, Eclipse, became an opportunity to support other pet owners facing the same uncertainty.
This project reinforced my belief that design can create meaningful impact beyond business goals. Creating these resources for APS of Durham remains one of the most rewarding projects of my career because its value lies not in metrics, but in the possibility of helping even one family bring a beloved pet home.
